Tweedy, Browne announced that investment committee member Sean McDonald left the firm on June 30, 2022. McDonald, who joined Tweedy, Browne in 2009, was the newest member of the seven-member committee, having been appointed in January 2021. Replacing McDonald on the investment committee is Andrew Ewert, who had been an analyst on the team since 2016. Ewert comes with good credentials. He boasts 20-plus years of investment experience—including stints at value-oriented shops Ruane, Cunniff & Goldfarb and Equinox Partners—and is in tune with the firmwide approach employed. More broadly, the committee continues to rank among the industry’s most experienced, averaging 36 years in the industry and 28 years with the firm. Moreover, the committee takes a collegial approach to portfolio management, which allows for multiple inputs during discussions while mitigating key-person risk.
