Change is Afoot at Wachovia Emerging Markets Fund

Mentioned:

This year has been brutal to developing economies. Wachovia Emerging Markets (BTMYX) hasn’t been immune to the pain--in fact, it’s down more than 28% for the year to date through December 14, 2000--but that’s actually a smaller loss than most of its peers.

Investors can thank the fund’s strict strategy and diversified portfolio for this performance, but there’s no telling how long these characteristics will stick around. A new addition to the management team and more-flexible investing guidelines could change the look of this fund.
