The Week Ahead: Fed Expected to Raise Rates Amid Jobs Data
The Fed's meeting on Wednesday will be the highlight of the week. Plus, we'll get a look at inflation, and earnings reports from Adobe and Tiffany.
Jeremy Glaser: Welcome to The Week Ahead. The Fed's meeting on Wednesday will be the highlight of the week. After raising rates in January, the central bank looks poised to raise them again. The move comes amid signs that inflation is moving higher, and the labor market remains robust enough to not be a worry.
We'll also get an update on inflation Wednesday with the release of the Consumer Price Index. Retail sales and industrial production are due this week, too, and will provide important snapshots on the state of the consumer and manufacturing sectors.
Earnings remain sparse, but there will be a few reports. Adobe will show if their momentum from 2016 can continue in the new year. Tiffany will report results against a more challenging backdrop for the firm as it deals with management turnover and slow revenue growth.
