Funds' Inflows Look Steady as They Go

Industry, families report solid months, but July ends on sour note.

Mutual-fund asset inflows in July held steady or increased a bit from June, but the stock market's sharp drop last week may have tempered them, leading fund families reported Monday.

Most of the bellwether fund complexes said their funds continued to take in more money than they paid out in redemptions during July. Some of their figures, however, did not include Thursday and Friday, when the Nasdaq stock market took a nose dive.
