An Internet presence has been more of a bust than a boon so far for mutual fund companies, a study says.
People are used to buying books from Amazon.com (AMZN) and bidding for vintage baseball cards and antique lamps at eBay (EBAY). They even are comfortable with paying bills online. But they don't seem any more willing to use mutual fund company Web sites to invest, according to a report Cerulli Associates is mailing to clients this month.
