Janus Creates Share Class to Snare More Broker Business

Fund family reorganizes its Aspen offerings.

Following a path laid by other fund families recently, Janus Capital is going to roll out a share class for 11 funds in an effort to grab more attention and business from brokers and financial planners.

By August, the Denver fund family expects to introduce the Janus Advisor series, according to documents filed Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Janus will give birth to the new offerings by reorganizing the retirement class shares of its Janus Aspen series, which currently can be bought only through tax-deferred retirement programs such as 401(k) plans. The Advisor series will let intermediaries sell the funds to people with taxable accounts.
