Moffett to Step Away From Scout International
He will remain with the firm for the next several years as chief international strategist at Scout.
James Moffett, who has been lead manager on Scout International (UMBWX) since its 1993 inception, will step down from the fund at the end of 2014, Scout Investments announced today.
Moffett has produced strong results at that fund, which he ran solo in its earlier days and with one or more comanagers in the past decade. He has used a patient, low-turnover style, keeping individual position sizes low. Although he owned emerging-markets stocks, he avoided China and Russia even as those markets became popular investment destinations because he lacked confidence in the shareholder focus of the companies and was wary of government actions in those countries.
