Fund Giants Volunteer Aftertax Returns Ahead of Regulation
Fund companies volunteer aftertax return estimates on the Web as Congress and the SEC consider making such disclosures mandatory.
Taxes, to paraphrase a well-worn saying, will always be as inevitable as death. But at least they are growing a little more apparent to mutual-fund investors.
A number of forces, ranging from impending government regulation to industry competition and the Internet, is leading some investment companies to offer more information about the aftertax returns of their mutual funds.
