European Markets Down

European stock markets mirrored their global counterparts as they traded lower in the morning session Thursday.

The FTSE declined 0.4%. The CAC 40 Paris remained unchanged while the German DAX declined 0.4%.

Later in the day, the European Central Bank is to publish its monthly bulletin while investors are also focused on euro-zone industrial production data.

Stocks on the Move

RBS extended losses, down a further 2.1% while Barclays was down 1.5%. Lloyds Banking Group fell 1.5% while HSBC was off 0.2%.

French carmaker Peugeot SA reversed 8.7% after it said it would take an impairment charge of 1.1 billion euros. The company also said it is studying the potential for a capital increase and partnerships.

International retailer Metro AG was up 3.4% after reporting results.
