U.S. Stock Futures Signal Positive Open

Wall Street looked set for a positive open Monday with the S&P 500 Futures index trading up 3.75 points at 1580.25 points and the Nasdaq Futures index adding 8.50 points at 2839.0 points.

On the economic calendar, core personal consumption spending price index will be released at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time. 

Monthly data on personal income and spending will also be published at the same time.

The National Association of Realtors will be releasing its monthly report on pending home sales at 10:00 a.m.

The Dallas Fed manufacturing business index follows next at 10:30 a.m.

In corporate news, Bayer AG said it will buy Conceptus, Inc., provider of surgery-free permanent birth control method, for $1.1 billion. 

KKR & Co. LP is reportedly mulling a bid for Rio Tinto Plc's majority stake in an Australian copper-gold mine.

Across global markets, Asian markets closed with modest gains in light session as Chinese and Japanese bourses remained closed for a public holiday.

European equities were trading higher at the time of writing even as Italy sworn in a new government after months of political stalemate following inconclusive elections in February.

Italian borrowing costs saw sharp declines as the government sold five- and ten- year bonds at an auction.
