When Quick Selling Makes Sense

Sometimes a short holding period is the best way to go.

The stock in question was Microsoft (MSFT). We bought the stock in September for Morningstar's Hare Portfolio, a group of fast-growing companies that appears in Morningstar's monthly newsletter StockInvestor. We sold the stock this January.

Doesn't this contradict Morningstar's long-held preference for long-term investing? What gives?
