When Quick Selling Makes Sense
Sometimes a short holding period is the best way to go.
We recently committed what some would consider an investing sin. We held a stock for just four months.
The stock in question was Microsoft (MSFT). We bought the stock in September for Morningstar's Hare Portfolio, a group of fast-growing companies that appears in Morningstar's monthly newsletter StockInvestor. We sold the stock this January.
Doesn't this contradict Morningstar's long-held preference for long-term investing? What gives?
