Fund Times: Openings, Closings, and Manager Changes
Scudder, Vanguard, Strong, and more.
David Dreman may be called on again, Wellington Management Company gets another opportunity to make Vanguard proud, and Strong gives its utilities fund some more utility.
Scudder Small Cap Value (KDSAX) sheepishly returns to its roots. After several years of manager changes and subpar performance compared with its small-value peers, Scudder Small Cap Value is asking shareholders to bring back Dreman Value Management as its subadvisor. Headed by renowned value investor David Dreman, who also runs large-value fund Scudder Dreman High Return Equity (KDHAX) and Scudder Dreman Financial Services (KDFAX), Dreman Value Management, and Dreman in particular, launched this fund in May 1992 and managed it until early 1993. Dreman also ran the fund from April 1995 until September 1995. Shareholders will vote on the proposal at a January 2002 meeting.
